3rd Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary ¤
Reading from Scripture: Mark 15: v16-20
The soldiers led him away to the inner part of the palace, that is, the Praetorium, and called the whole cohort together. They dressed him up in purple, twisted some thorns into a crown and put it on him. And they began saluting him, "Hail, king of the Jews!" The struck his head with a reed and spat on him; and they went down on their knees to do him homage. And when they had finished making fun of him, they took off the purple and dressed him in his own clothes.
Meditation: "You have said so - I am a King," replies Jesus to Pilate. But men do not want this king. His royal robe will be purple rags, his throne a broken pillar, his sceptre a reed in his bound hands, and in mockery he is crowned with thorns. Jesus, I give my little soul for your cloak, my penitent heart for your throne and the love of our Mother Mary as for your sceptre. May the thorns of my pride be replaced by my homage.
Eternal Father, by the merits of all that your Son suffered in his being crowned with thorns, may all your children return to you.
Mary, my Mother, give me your humility so that Jesus can reign in my heart.
